Radiology AI reimbursement checklist
Reimbursement is not a feature badge. Use this checklist to pressure-test vendor claims before a demo, pilot, or value-analysis review.
Questions to ask before trusting an AI reimbursement claim
- Which exact CPT, HCPCS, or Category III code is the vendor referencing?
- Is the code tied to the performed exam, AI output, interpretation workflow, or a separate service?
- Does the payer require medical necessity, prior authorization, supervision, or documentation language?
- Can the vendor provide de-identified billing examples from U.S. radiology customers?
- Does the tool duplicate work already bundled into the radiology interpretation?
- Who owns denial risk: the practice, health system, billing vendor, or AI vendor?
Directory policy
Listings use Unavailable when exact billable codes are not public-source-backed for the exact FDA-cleared version. Broad modality or anatomy hints are not billing advice.
Buyer caution
Reimbursement language changes quickly and varies by payer, site of service, supervision, and documentation. Treat public listing fields as prompts for local billing review, not as payment guidance.
